Principal's Message

Hello Parents! It has been an exciting first few weeks back at school. As I am sure you have already heard, Oswalt has been officially authorized an an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program World School. Oswalt is the 27th school in California to be authorized to offer this program. The The IB Primary Years Program, for Oswalt students in grades K-6, focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. The most significant and distinctive feature of the IB Primary Years Program is the six transdisciplinary themes. These themes are about issues that have meaning for, and are important to, all of us. The program offers a balance between learning about or through the subject areas, and learning beyond them. The six themes of global significance create a transdisciplinary framework that allows students to "step up" beyond the confines of learning within subject areas.

We are very proud of the students, teachers, and Oswalt community for making this happen. We can now officially call Oswalt an IB World School!

Thank you,

Mr. Kevin Despard
Principal, Oswalt Academy
